Musician Callout – Mildura Fringe

Mildura Fringe is currently looking for musicians and sound artists to perform at our next event/festival: Saturday July 6th in Mildura.
Paid gig.
Looking for solo/duo acts. Open to all suggestions – from singer songwriter, to experimental, to instrumental, and all things in between!
Trying to keep music miles low, so local artists and those willing to travel by public transport are a preference.
Shoot us a message if keen ???

  1. Hi,

Essentially, in this email, I am writing to introduce myself and to see if there may be areas to cooperate

    There are two things:

    1. I spent 20 years in China and just returned to Melbourne in 2017, albeit, back to Frankston (where I grew up). I was heavily involved in the music industry in Beijing as a performer, an organiser, sound equipment supplier, sound engineer, marketing & promotion. I’m now partnered with MusicDish*China and will start to bring Chinese bands from Beijing down to Melbourne, as well as Expat bands in China down to Melbourne, as well as MusicDish*NewYork signed bands coming from the northern hemisphere to Melbourne. I will be wanting to get them on stages at various venues, festivals and events in Melbourne, and around. For example, my very good mate, Djang San 50 albums and plays all over China and Asia using traditional Chinese string instruments fitted out with electric guitar pick ups… Djang San is very keen to come on his 1st tour to Australia.
I’m also currently organising a January 2020 (Chinese New Year) tour for arguably China’s best punk band The SUBS (first Chinese punk band to make cover of The Rolling Stone Magazine), refer attached and also [12 international tours over 15 years but not Australia yet]

    2. I have been a musician playing in lots of bands since age of 14 and I’m 46 now and no plans to stop. I’m currently writing and recording for my latest 3 piece band SOULFUL HARVEST [there are a couple of amateur vids and posts showing our style].

We play a very interesting mix of music that you won’t find easily as we have a CHAPMAN STICK player as the lead singer, who also plays amazing slap bass as well as tapping guitar style. I mix it up between bass, guitar, percussion and vocals and we swap instruments between songs. My brother Chris is the drummer (on electronic drums with amazing samples) and he is also a very accomplished didjeridoo player. We play a mix of couch funk, folk rock, and hard funk rock. We are already playing a few local shows, but we’ve already also done Bar Open and Sooki Lounge as well as me organising local festivals of bands in Frankston. We will be looking for opportunities to play. I will be touring the band SOULFUL HARVEST to Beijing just after Xmas this year.

So those are the two main projects I am working on. I’m back and forth to Beijing every 2 months or so (just launched an EP for one of my Beijing based bands in Beijing the week before last). [BETTER OFF ALIVE – folk rock] They are also keen to come to Australia to perform…

I’m fairly new back in Melbourne in the music scene here and I am interested in discussing an opportunity to be involved with your festival.

I would be happy to play some solo or duo with the lead singer of SOULFUL HARVEST

I look forward to feedback in due course.

    Justin Richardson
