This work will be a continuation of Nikas’ work MIN MIN which was installed as part of Palimpsest #8. The work was created from approximately 500 solar powered garden lights, mounted through light gauge mild steel mesh, the shape mirrors the canoe tree scar and is approximately 4 meters in length and suspended 5 meters above ground level. Located above the outdoor seating area at Stefano’s CafĂ© Bakery at 27 Deakin Avenue it hovered between the diners and the night sky. Using the metaphor of the indigenous mythological MIN MIN, it will symbolically represent the ephemeral appearance and disappearance of the various solar power projects that have gone the same way in our response to reducing our global footprint. |
